Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Brown Noise Free app for mobile devices, together with any related services operated by Peyton Greenwood (collectively, the "Application"). Peyton Greenwood is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider".
In short: the Application has no accounts and no server of its own. It never asks for your name, email or any personal detail. What little data leaves your device goes to two service providers — one for crash reports, one to validate purchases — and nothing else.
Information Collection and Use
The Application collects limited information when you download and use it, including:
- Your device's Internet Protocol address
- Basic app interaction data (such as app launches and feature usage) for crash diagnostics and stability monitoring
- Your mobile operating system and device type
Information Stored Only on Your Device
Some information never leaves your phone and is never transmitted to the Service Provider or anyone else. This includes the display name you may optionally set on the "You" screen, your total listening time, your sleep timer and fade preferences, and your current mix. All of it is stored locally and is removed when you delete the Application.
Health Data
The Application does not request, read, or write any Apple Health data, and does not access HealthKit at all.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Application does not use cookies, as it is a native mobile application rather than a web-based service. The Application's third-party SDKs (described below) may use device identifiers or similar technologies to support functionality such as crash reporting and purchase validation. Where required by applicable law, the Service Provider will obtain consent before using any non-essential tracking technologies.
Third Party Access
Certain data, including an anonymous device identifier and diagnostic information (such as crash reports), is shared with the third-party service providers listed below in order to validate purchases, maintain subscription entitlements, and identify and fix crashes. These providers do not have independent use of this information beyond providing their service to the Application, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own privacy policies about handling data. Below are links to the privacy policies of the third-party service providers used by the Application:
- Sentry — crash and error reporting
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase validation
The Service Provider may disclose information described in this policy:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
- with their trusted service providers who work on their behalf, as described above.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data held by the Service Provider. To exercise these rights, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, contact the Service Provider at pgreenwood333@gmail.com.
Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. The Service Provider does not sell or share personal information. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact pgreenwood333@gmail.com.
International Data Transfers
The Service Provider's third-party service providers may transfer personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the Service Provider relies on:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Adequacy decisions or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms
- Your consent, where required and legally permitted
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all further collection of information by uninstalling the Application. Uninstalling will stop the Application from collecting data from your device, but it does not automatically delete information that has already been transmitted to the Service Provider or to third parties. To request deletion of your personal data, contact pgreenwood333@gmail.com.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider retains data based on its necessity for the stated purposes:
- Diagnostic and crash data: retained for up to 24 months from collection, unless longer retention is required for legal compliance
- Anonymized purchase/device identifiers: retained for the duration of an active subscription plus 12 months thereafter
- Data required for legal compliance: retained as long as required by applicable law
You may request deletion of your data, subject to any legal obligation to retain it, by contacting pgreenwood333@gmail.com.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law, for purposes of data collection and consent. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit personal data from children or market data-collection features to them. The Application itself carries an age rating suitable for general audiences; this section concerns consent for data processing, not who may use the Application.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to the Service Provider, please contact pgreenwood333@gmail.com so that it can be addressed.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information and applies reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the information it processes.
Data Breach Notification
If a data breach occurs that affects your personal data, the Service Provider will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including, where required, providing information about the nature of the breach and the steps being taken to address it.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Where required by law, the Service Provider will seek your consent to material changes before they take effect.
Your Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you provide that consent by affirmatively opting in to the relevant feature. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
